Recently, a key construction milestone was achieved in a domestic subsea tunnel project, where a batch of high-corrosion-resistant concrete admixtures was successfully applied in the production of shield tunnel segments and the lining construction of the tunnel. This effectively addressed technical challenges such as the vulnerability of concrete structures to chloride ion erosion and poor durability in marine environments, providing core assurance for the long-term safe operation of the subsea tunnel project.
Subsea tunnels are exposed to high-salt, high-humidity marine environments, where chloride ions can easily penetrate the concrete, leading to steel corrosion and significantly compromising the structural safety and service life of the project. The high-corrosion-resistant admixture selected for this project utilizes composite rust inhibition and anti-corrosion technology, forming a dense protective film on the concrete surface. This effectively blocks the penetration of harmful agents such as chloride ions and sulfates while enhancing the compactness and crack resistance of the concrete.
Test data show that concrete treated with this admixture exhibits a reduction of over 70% in chloride ion permeability coefficient and achieves a sulfate resistance rating of KS120. Its service life can be extended to over 100 years, far exceeding that of conventional concrete structures. The project's technical director stated that the application of high-corrosion-resistant concrete admixtures is a critical technological measure for subsea tunnel projects to combat marine environmental erosion, accumulating valuable experience for the construction of subsea transportation engineering in China.
