Nanning-Baise Expressway
The Nanning-Baise Expressway (a section of the G80 Guangzhou-Kunming Expressway) starts at Tanluo Town in Nanning City, passes through Long'an, Pingguo, Tiandong, and Tianyang, and terminates in Youjiang District, Baise City. It spans a total length of 187.815 kilometers and is a dual four-lane expressway. Construction began in 2005, and it opened to traffic in December 2007, reducing the travel time between Nanning and Baise from 4 hours to approximately 2.5 hours.
Currently, the Nanning-Baise Expressway is undergoing a major expansion project to enhance its capacity. The upgrade follows a dual eight-lane standard, with a total route length of approximately 192.6 kilometers. The design speed is 120 km/h for the section from Tanluo to Napo (Tianyang) and 100 km/h for the section from Napo (Tianyang) to Sitang (Youjiang). The total investment in the project is about 22.14 billion yuan, with completion scheduled for 2028.The expansion involves the construction of 73 bridges and 19 interchanges, utilizing a combination of side-widening and separate new alignment methods, with strong emphasis on ecological conservation. Full-scale construction commenced in December 2024, and key milestones such as the pouring of the first bridge pile foundation were completed in 2025. Upon completion, the upgraded expressway will further strengthen transportation links between Southwest China and coastal ports as well as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, thereby promoting regional economic development.
